News 2013

All the updates and news of 2013 are listed below, please follow with us during all our successes and triumphs through the year.

December

Gator did a little showing this month, he didn't earn any points, but earne Reserve Winners Dog on a few days.  The show entries have been quite large  and quality filled for the end of the year and for a 6.5 year old puppy he did really well.  He is doing fabulous on his exam and learning to move around the ring.  He will still be a junior puppy when the shows start up in February and with a little trainig and a little growing we are hoping that 2014 will be his year.
At the Elora Gorge Kennel Club show Swinde was entered for 2 days, she went Best Opposite Sex for 3 pts and Select on the second day for 2 more points.  She is now over half way through her Canadian Grand Championship and expect to finish her in 2014.  On Saturday in Elora, I decided to brave the ring with 2 GSD's, 1 leash and a whole lotta power.  I entered and ran Freya and her brother Reigner (Helwigg's MakinMagic at Safice CGN, RE and AM/CDN/UKC CH Hellwigg's Let Freedom Reign CD, RN, CGN,OVC) as a brace team.  That is a lot of power on the end of a leash and they did fabulous, going Best Brace in Breed and Best Brace in Group.

November
At the Georgina Kennel and Obedience Club show Safari earned 3 more qualifying scores which should cement her in the top 5 for 2013 (currently she is number 3) including a High in Class, Freya earned her Rally Excellent title and just missed making the top 5 for 2013 (she is tied for 6th).  Stella attended Georgina with our friends Wendy and Darrell...this lovely girl won Best of Breed and a Group second her first weekend out as a "Special".  Gibbs (a Stella son) was entered in Baby Puppy and went Best Baby Puppy all weekend!!
November 30, 2013 Gator went to his first official show.  At just 6 months and 5 days old he went Winners Dog, Best of Winners and Best Puppy in Breed.  We went to the Group ring later that day and Judge Houston Clark gave him the nod for Best Puppy in Group!! This was his only day entered, but what an exciting start to his show career!

October
We are very proud for our friend Wendy Haddrall of Hellwiggs German Shepherds for finishing their lovely girl Safice's Shamrock v Hellwigg (Stella) Canadian Championship!  Yeah STELLLLAAAAAAAA!!  Thank you my friend for showing this lovely girl!

The Elgin County Kennel Club show was held in conjunction with the new London Pet Show sponsored by Purina! It was a fabulous and busy weekend.  Gator was entered in baby puppy class and won best Baby Puppy in Breed!

Safari and I went to the Poodle Club Rally Trials...we are still working on earning points to stay in the Top 5 Rally GSD's in Canada!! Again this old girl strutted her stuff to 2 more qualifying scores!  We also met up with the Hays who are now the proud owners of Ransom (Safice's King's Ransom - Gator's litter brother).  They hope to do some performance and maybe even a championship! Wishing them every success with their new boy!

September
We went to the Canadian GSD National Specialty and cheered on our friends and favourite dogs! Gator was entered in the Baby Puppy Class as were Gibbs and Rawley (Bred by my friends Wendy Haddrall ad Sherry Greenbury) out of Safice's Shamrock v Hellwigg (Stella).  It was a tough male puppy class an proud to say that Gibbs took 1st place, Gator 2nd place and Rawley 3rd place!!! Great start to a fun weekend!

August

Attended the Barrie Kennel Club show with Safari to earn more points towards her Rally.  She earned 2 Qualifying scores with one being a high n class!! Love my girl!! :) Can Ch Safice's the Fabulous Moolah earned her first American points with her young buddy Alex (age 11) who showed  her to the win under Judge Ramone Podesta.

July

Maple Leaf Kennel Club (UKC) in Erin, Swindle went Group 1 the first day of the show and earned her first qualifier for her UKC Grand Championship.  Unfortunately the weather was very bad and we had a 3 hour drive home so we didn't stay for Best in Show....The drive home was quite eventful with downed poles, trees and emergency vehicles everywhere!

Tillsonburg show Safari and I earned a couple of bonus qualifiers at the advanced level, we are working on being in the top 5 Rally Obedience Dogs in Canada for 2013. Both trials she earned a 99/100 and for the moment our lovely old girl is sitting as number 4 Rally GSD in Canada!!  Tini was entered for Utility and although she didn't pass (she wasn't alone in this!!!) she did really well and with a little work we are hoping to earn her Utility (UD and OTCH) title in the fall.

We attended the Sarnia Kennel Club show, Swindle earned points towards her CKC Grand Champion title going BOB and Select the 2 days she was entered.  MooMoo was entered for a couple of days and earned some safetys and headed back to her daddy in the USA to work on her American Championship.

June

It has been a quiet month, just watching the babies grow and getting ready for our next shows in July.
Safice's the Fabulous Moolah (MooMoo/Tebia) owned by Kevin Brown went to her first Canadian Show at the Aurora District Kennel Club with our friend Shelley Ford piloting her.  She earned a Best of Breed and her first points under Judge Morley Thorton and a Reserve on Saturday.  At Monarch Kennel Club MooMoo went Winners Bitch x 3, Best of Winners x 2 and Best of Breed x 2 with Shelley aboard.  Great start for our girl and her Canadian career. MooMoo attended the Hamilton Kennel Club show and finished her  Canadian Championship with a Winners Bitch x 2 and Best of Breed x 1, Best of Winners x 2.
Swindle (Ch Safice's Fast and Loose) went to Aurora, it was her first time out as a special and earned her first Grand Champion Points going Best of Breed and a Group 1 under Judge Thomas Burke.

May 20th Safari  and I went to the Kitchener dog show to try for our Rally Excellent title.  We did 3 trials back to back earning the title in 1 day!!! Safari the trooper that she is came out of the final trial with a 99...all 3 trials she earned placements I am so proud of our matriarch...she is such a special girl!

April
Safari & Freya went to the Kent Kennel Klub Show.  Both girl did us proud earning their Rally Advanced titles with multiple placements. We are so proud of our girls, Freya is just past a year and a half Safari is just shy of ten and a half.  It goes to show that old dogs can new learn new tricks and young ones can acheive anything!!!

Congratulations to our good friends Wendy Haddrall (breeder) and Shelley Ford (handler) on Katara aka Kat's New Championship finishing with Puppy Group and Group 3 wins at the Kent Kennel Klub show.  Kat is out of Ch ptd Safice's Shamrock v Hellwigg "Stella" sister to our Emma.  We are thrilled for our friends successes with this dynamite little girl!
